Kimberly brings a deep expertise in carbon chemistry, as well as chemical and electrical engineering education and experience.
She holds a BSE in Chemical engineering and a PhD in Geochemistry with a focus on molecular interactions during Carbon Capture and Sequestration.

Kim has worked in multiple startups and, prior to starting pHathom, she led the launch of Carbon to Sea, a $50M non-profit promoting research and development of ocean alkalinity enhancement techniques.

As employee #1, she developed many strong connections to the ocean CDR research and engineering community. Kim has 3 sons and 2 stepsons and has a strong desire to work in climate tech to create a better future for them.

Andrew has years of business and investing experience as a multiple-time founder and 9 years of experience working as a venture investor, including 4 as Managing Director of a top decile deep tech fund with 3 climate tech unicorns. He holds a Master’s in Astrophysics and an MBA and has 9 years of experience as a spacecraft engineer for a remote-sensing satellite designed to monitor ice flows in the Arctic. Andrew has an extensive network in the clean tech startup space and has deep experience developing startup business strategies and paths to market.

Mark is a Professional Engineer (Mechanical) and holds an MS in Technology and Policy (MIT) with over 25 years of experience in the development and commercialization of technologies in heavy industries including power, oil and gas, cement, steel, and forest products.  He is the former head of sustainability improvement and technology development for Suncor Energy, where he led the successful development and demonstration of several CO₂ capture technologies.  He is a recognized expert in energy transition, leading a global team of ET SMEs at a global strategy consulting firm before joining pHathom.

Leslie Rittenberg brings over 30 years of experience in the Power and O&G industries. She has an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering and a graduate MBA. Leslie has held leadership positions for a major O&G company in multiple refining assets as well as their Corporate Downstream Technology Center, where she led teams responsible for new technology development as well as new digital technologies.  Her most recent role was with an AI digital startup as the VP of Industry Solutions, bringing AI to frontline workers.

She has a passion for bringing new innovations to existing industries to help manage the energy transition addressing our planet’s climate change challenges. On a personal note, she has two children and lives with her husband in Northern Florida.

Tyler is a biogeochemist at Georgia Southern University studying how material and chemical elements are cycled through marine and coastal ecosystems. His research focuses on the carbon cycle in systems such as coral reefs, mangroves, seagrass beds, and calcium carbonate sediments. He is interested in the role that these ecosystems play in the global carbon cycle, how they will be affected by climate change, and how they could help remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. He conducted his PhD on calcium carbonate dissolution in coral reef sands and has recently focused his research on marine carbon dioxide removal.

Phil is a professor emeritus at the University of Texas at Austin.  Phil has 40 years of experience as an aqueous geochemist and expertise in the carbon cycle in cave formations and inland carbonate waterways.  He supports the team with chemical speciation and transport models.
